- April 17th^ Saturday P.3 (l) A clerk of the national salvation Committee in New Westminster was accused of buying Japanese magazines. However, he was not fined by the Cor.ur.ittee because printed materials were riot regarded as merchandise. There were always spies to ensure that no Chinese would buy Japanese goods. (2) An Overseas Chinese Patriotic Association was established in Nanaimo on April llth. The aim was to promote the boycott of Japanese goods; and to raise funds in case of war. (3) An Overseas Chinese National Salvation Committee was established in Montreal. A big organization was asked to the meeting to draw up the constitution. P.2-3(4) The Overseas Chinese National Salvation Association in Vancouver intended to have a drama performance ( x^ |«S\ ,^ M^ ) on April 18th to raise money for the Commiitee. However, no admission fees were allowed; a sealed box would be located in the front entrance for donations. The drama was sponsored by \1.
