Description
January 12th, Tuesday P.I The Chinese lin.es announced the necessity to unite all Chinese in the western and eastern part of Canada to fight against the discriminatory case in the laundry business. Laundry was the most important and essential business of the overseas Chinese, so chasing them out of this field would mean putting thousands out of work. The conseruence would surely affect various business operated by other Chinese. The editor accused that the unjust reasons used by the Canadian Laundrymen association to screen out the Chinese were:- (a) to put the Chinese out of work so as to replace thej,, by unemployed Canadians. (b) hand washing method was non-hygienic. (c) Machine washing woulu save tine as well as money, The editor suggested that the Chinese could raise funds to fight against the Canadians, or they could use one-half the fund raised previously during the case concerning the prohibition of employment of female whites in Chinese restaurants.
