"This is a prospectus of the Quebec gazette, brought from Philadelphia to Quebec and distributed by Wm. Brown, while his partner, Thomas Gilmore, went to England to purchase equipment for their printing office ... The newspaper thus proposed was published in its first issue at Quebec, June 21, 1764 ... Brown & Gilmore's printing office was the second established in Canada"--Tremaine.
