By Donald McCaig.
In the course of a long career as an educator, McCaig was principal of Berlin, Galt, and Ottawa public schools. He published a book of poetry, and in 1871 "A reply to J.S. Mill on the subjection of women", which in the words of one reviewer, exposed "the fallacies of Woman's Rights, from Mill down to Miss Walker". Laudatory notices on his book and his teaching include those of Goldwin Smith, Egerton Ryerson, Geo. Paxton Young and several prominent Americans.
