It's very doubtful that this began publication in Canada in 1849. It seems to follow/match the American/British issues's numeration. (For instance, according to issues seen on eBay & Abe Books, the American edition had a v. 39, no. 5 (May 1892), v. 45, no. 2 (Feb. 1895); v. 46, no. 3 (Sept. 1895) -all of this numbering fits in with the Canadian edition's numbering. It began publication in the USA in 1873, so it would not have been published in Canada any earlier than that. The American edition ceased in 1937 when it merged with Pictorial review.
