Notes
"It purports to be an account of the breaking up of the Union by these cession of the southern states, which had adopted a monarchical form of government, under the protection of France; while the north-eastern states had become annexed to Canada, under the control of an English prince, and a republic, called the "Illinois" had been established in the West."--NUC.
"Six letters, of which the first five discourse on political dissensions and the commercial catastrophe in the United States precipitated by Thomas Jefferson, and the last, on a union between the New England states and the Northern Kingdom, i.e. Canada, with the capital at Quebec, "the Petersburgh of America", the union being cemented by the marriage of the President's daughter with his Majesty of the North. Wm. Jenks was a Congregational clergyman at Bath, Maine, and Boston."--TPL.
