"Published by order of His Excellency the commander in chief"
"The court of enquiry was demanded by Alfred Booker, commanding officer of the active force of militia in Hamilton, following the battle of Ridgeway between the Canadian volunteers and the Fenians under John O' Neill. The Canadians were defeated, the result of differing Canadian and British attitudes towards colonial defence. The court refused to assign blame while praising Booker's courage"--TPL.
