Canadiana.org is pleased to announce the appointment of William Wueppelmann as Interim Executive Director. In this role, William will serve as the chief executive officer reporting to Canadiana’s volunteer Board of Directors on the organization’s initiatives and operations.
William was formerly Chief Operating Officer and responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization. Previously, he served as Chief Information Officer (2014-16) and Manager of Information Systems (2009-14). He joined the Canadian Institute for Historical Microreproductions (CIHM, now Canadiana.org) in 2001 to coordinate digitization and Web activities for the original Early Canadiana Online as it transitioned from its initial pilot phase. He later developed a new application platform and metadata standards for this resource.
The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. He or she also serves as spokesperson for Canadiana, building and maintaining a wide range of partnerships with individuals and other organizations.
Canadiana.org is an alliance of memory organizations, government, and industry partners working together to strengthen their collective ability to create, present, manage, and preserve Canadian online content. The Canadiana.org partnership conducts business as a coordinator, facilitator, and advocate for digitization and digital research initiatives. In tandem, we work to ensure that these initiatives exercise enduring access services and preservation infrastructures. First established in 1978, Canadiana.org is an independent registered charity.
