Ron Walker presents for the Association of Parliamentary Libraries in Canada

Ron Walker, Canadiana.org CEO, gave a presentation at the Association of Parliamentary Libraries in Canada (APLIC) annual conference July 3-4, 2013 in Ottawa. The members of the association represent the legislative or parliamentary libraries of the ten provinces, two of the territories, and the federal Parliament. The association recently launched the Government and Legislative Libraries Online Publications Portal (GALLOPP) to provide efficient search and retrieval of digital government publications and select legislative materials found in Canadian legislative and parliamentary libraries.

Ron's presentation, "Strategies for Digital Stewardship, Sustainable Open Access: A funding model for documentary heritage", outlined strategies and methods for long-term, sustainable funding of digitization projects, in keeping with the overarching theme on the future of legislative libraries, the use of social media, handling the information deluge, weeding, the impact of copyright and parliamentary privilege, and others.
