at ALA Chicago 2013

The Annual Conference of the American Library Association (ALA) took place from June 28 to July 2, 2013 in Chicago, Illinois, and for the first time in its 35-year history, participated as an exhibitor.

Our main goal was to provide ALA members with details about the contents and capabilities of the expanding Early Canadiana Online platform, as well as to furnish interested organizations and individuals with subscription and licensing information.  Also, we took the opportunity to introduce participants to our up-and-coming Heritage collection, containing a huge, new corpus of Canadian historic documents which will be of particular interest to researchers and genealogists on both sides of the border.

We wish to thank participants for the exceptional interest shown in’s displays, which offered a clear demonstration of the close cultural and family connections between Canada and the United States, as well as the goodwill and spirit of collaboration between our respective library communities. This certainly bodes well for future initiatives to broaden the international presence of Canada's documentary heritage.
